01. Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk-in and browse?
Appointments are not required, but are definitely recommended to ensure that one of our dedicated stylists is available to assist you with finding the right pieces and offering personalised guidance, especially on our busier days.
Customers are more than welcome to simply visit us for a relaxed browse of our stock and to get that much needed inspiration, but for the full, luxury Jane Young experience we do recommend booking an appointment on a date that suits you.
02. When/how far in advance should I visit? When do you receive your new season stock?
This question is very subjective! For some, there is no such thing as too early in advance, and for others, they may be anxious to rush into a decision.
If we were to recommend the perfect timing for selecting your outfit, we would suggest visiting us at least 8 weeks before your event. This gives you plenty of time to try on lots of options, and find your perfect match; then our capable alterations team have enough time for tweaks and tailoring for a flawless finish.
However, there is never a wrong time! Here at Jane Young we pride ourselves in offering one of the largest collections of stock in the East Midlands, all year round; we’ve got something for everyone, for every occasion. We begin to receive our Spring/Summer stock into store around Christmas, with our Autumn/Winter following suit in June/July. Therefore, if you wish to ensure that you have first grabs at all the styles and sizes, the closest you can get to these dates, the better.
03. What sizes do you offer?
At Jane Young we have something for everyone. Our wide range of collections are available in UK sizes 6-26, dependent on stock availability and styles. Our expert stylists and in-house alterations team are here to ensure you get a perfect fit, every time.
04. Do you only sell formal dresses, or do you offer other options?
Here at Jane Young we pride ourselves in our carefully hand-curated range of stock. Our fantastic collections include formal and informal styles; from timeless dresses and elegant separates to chic suits and contemporary, on-trend looks.
With our exclusive personal shopping service, you’re sure to find exactly what you’re looking for – even if you don’t know what that is just yet!
05. Do you also offer accessories to complete my outfit?
We can help you every step of the way, it doesn’t have to end when you’ve found the perfect dress!

With our special occasion wear now being available online, we’re just a phone call or email away if you'd like more information about a particular piece that’s caught your eye, or if you’d simply like to discuss pricing options.

08. Things to consider before your visit:
• The date – This will determine what time of year you should be visiting us, and may sway what style and weight of dress you may be looking for.
• The venue – Are you wanting something formal and modest for a church service, or something soft and flowing for a more relaxed occasion?
• The colour theme – Is there a specific colour palette you need to match or compliment? Are there colours you need to avoid that perhaps the bridesmaids or other party members are wearing?
• The style – Our stylists are here to help find you the perfect outfit, whether you know exactly what you’re looking for or have no idea at all. There may however be particular things that you require from your outfit; for example, a jacket for colder weather or arm coverage, or something less structured for more mobility.
• The accessories – Are you wanting/required to wear a hat or fascinator? Are there specific accessories or shoes you wish to wear on the day? Bring them along to your appointment!
• The underwear – Although it may seem an afterthought, undergarments can make a big difference to the fit, feel and look of an outfit. Comfortable, well-fitting underwear is essential!
