THE STORY OF BRODIE

At Jane Young, we believe the best style often comes with a great story. Brodie Cashmere is a perfect example, helmed by the mother-daughter duo Anne-Marie Holdsworth and Jessica Talpade. Their family roots in the textile industry run deep, starting with Anne-Marie’s grandfather in wool textiles, and continuing with her husband who focused the family’s expertise on luxury cashmere. It was her husband’s early travels to Mongolia that established the direct partnerships with local herdsmen that Brodie still honours today.

Encouraged by her daughter, Anne-Marie officially launched the brand in 2010. While Brodie is now known internationally, available in the likes of Harrods and Selfridges, every piece is still designed in-house in Yorkshire. Now a grandmother herself, Anne-Marie’s commitment to sustainable, long-lasting fashion is deeply personal, ensuring that each piece we select for you at Jane Young is an investment meant to last.

THE STORY OF BRODIE
FROM THE MONGOLIAN STEPPES TO YOUR WARDROBE

FROM THE MONGOLIAN STEPPES TO YOUR WARDROBE

The exceptional feel of a Brodie garment begins in the Mongolian steppes. Unlike standard knitwear, Brodie uses exclusively 100% Grade-A pure Mongolian cashmere. The goats in this region produce hair that is roughly 20% longer than those found elsewhere, which allows for a more tightly twisted yarn.

At Jane Young, we value these technical details as they mean your knitwear is not only softer but also more durable and naturally resistant to pilling.

Brodie works directly with nomadic herdsmen, removing middlemen to ensure full traceability and quality control. The goats are gently hand-combed - never sheared - to collect only the finest fibres. By keeping production local to Mongolia, Brodie supports the regional economy while maintaining a vertical supply chain. The process is finished with custom European dyes that are ISO-accredited and kind to the skin, ensuring those signature Brodie colours remain vibrant season after season.

AWARD WINNING SUSTAINABILITY

Choosing Brodie means supporting a brand that prioritises the planet. As a founding member of the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA), Brodie was one of the first to commit to ethical production and safeguarding the Mongolian landscape. Their dedication has earned them the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2022, the UK’s highest business honour. They were also named finalists for the Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards, reflecting a ‘buy less, buy better’ philosophy that we truly champion at Jane Young.

AWARD WINNING SUSTAINABILITY
THE LUXURY OF MACHINE WASHABLE CASHMERE

THE LUXURY OF MACHINE WASHABLE CASHMERE

One of the most practical reasons we love Brodie at Jane Young is a feature many find surprising: it is machine washable at 30 degrees on a delicate cycle.

This is made possible by the 42mm Grade-A fibre length, which allows the yarn to be twisted tightly enough to withstand a gentle wash without losing its shape. This ‘practical luxury’ removes the stress of caring for high-end knitwear. By choosing a machine-washable piece, you benefit from increased longevity and a garment that fits effortlessly into a modern, busy lifestyle.
