There are few accessory brands with quite such an interesting story as Helen Moore. Founded in Devon in the 80s by husband and wife duo Helen and Stanley Moore, the business began in a rather unexpected way. Stanley was an artist, and the couple started selling his artwork to help fund their travels to music festivals. From those humble beginnings grew the family business we know today, evolving into Helen’s passion for textiles and desire to create something special.

Helen Moore has since become renowned for its beautifully crafted accessories, while remaining firmly rooted in its Devonshire heritage. The business is now run by the couple's daughter, making it a genuine second-generation family business.

Much of the collection continues to be made at the Helen Moore factory in North Devon. Each piece is hand cut, with individual items sewn from beginning to end by one machinist rather than moving through a production line. It is this attention to craftsmanship that gives the accessories their distinctive feel.

We also appreciate the brand's honesty about its manufacturing. More than 80% of its faux fur collection is made in its own Devon factory, while some pieces are produced by carefully selected overseas manufacturers. Rather than making a blanket claim of British manufacture, Helen Moore is refreshingly open about where its products are made.

The faux fur itself is cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, made using recycled materials and tested to confirm that it contains no animal fibres. It is a thoughtful alternative to real fur without compromising on the luxurious texture and glamour we love.

Helen Moore accessories are designed as one-size pieces, so rather than a traditional size guide, we recommend checking the measurements of each style before ordering. This is particularly helpful with scarves, tippets and wraps, where the overall length and width can make a real difference to how the piece sits over an outfit.

Faux fur benefits from gentle handling. Rather than washing it routinely, shake your accessory out carefully and use gentle brushing where appropriate to refresh the pile. Store faux fur somewhere cool and dry with enough space to retain its shape, rather than compressing it under heavier garments.

New faux fur can occasionally shed a small amount of fibre, particularly when first worn, so you may notice some fibres transferring onto darker clothing. This should reduce with use. If the pile becomes flattened, gently shake or brush the fur to help restore its texture.
