THE STORY OF JUMPER1234

Jumper 1234 is a brand with a wonderfully simple philosophy: beautiful knitwear should be luxurious, wearable and, above all, enjoyable. Founded in 2014 from a shared love of cashmere, the brand was created by long-term friends Jane and Denise, who brought decades of experience in fashion, design and knitwear to the business.

Designed in London and born in Mongolia, Jumper 1234 has built its reputation around beautifully soft cashmere with a distinctly playful personality. Rather than treating knitwear as something purely practical, the brand brings colour, stripes, unexpected details and a fabulous personality into pieces designed to be worn again and again.

Their relationship with Mongolia is particularly important. Jumper 1234 sources its cashmere from Mongolian herdsmen, with the fibre collected naturally when goats moult in spring rather than through early shearing. The fibre is then carefully refined to separate the finest cashmere from coarser guard hairs, resulting in the wonderfully soft yarn the brand is known for.

There is a lovely sense of individuality behind the label, too. Even the name Jumper 1234 is a playful reference to its numbered sizing system — something that can seem rather mysterious until you know the story!

At Jane Young, we love Jumper 1234 because it manages to make cashmere feel both special and completely approachable. These are luxurious pieces, but they are not precious in spirit. The beautiful colours, easy shapes and flashes of personality make them the sort of knitwear you genuinely look forward to wearing.

THE STORY OF JUMPER1234
THE COLLECTION, YARN AND CONSTRUCTION

THE COLLECTION, YARN AND CONSTRUCTION

There is much more to Jumper 1234 than simply a beautiful cashmere jumper. The collection is designed to give your wardrobe those dependable knitwear pieces you reach for constantly, while adding enough colour and personality to make them feel anything but ordinary.

The collection includes classic crew neck and V-neck sweaters, cardigans, short-sleeve cashmere tops and tanks, making it easy to build a versatile knitwear wardrobe for every season. Most pieces are made from 100% cashmere, while selected styles use a 70% wool and 30% cashmere blend for additional structure and warmth. Some core pieces also incorporate stretch yarn for a little extra flexibility.

The brand's standard mid-weight cashmere is knitted at 12 gauge, or 12gg. In simple terms, gauge refers to the number of stitches knitted within a given measurement of fabric, helping to determine the weight and handle of the finished knit. It is this versatile mid-weight that Jumper 1234 uses particularly effectively for its signature stripes and intarsia designs.

And those designs are not simply printed onto the finished garment. Graphics and motifs are knitted into the fabric using intarsia techniques or added through embroidery, giving the pieces their distinctive designer finish.

Fit is equally considered. Depending on the style, you will find classic crews with a slightly longer length, generous raglan V-necks, shorter-bodied raglan crews and relaxed boyfriend or slouchy silhouettes.

For us at Jane Young, that combination is exactly what makes Jumper 1234 so appealing: exceptional cashmere, considered construction and plenty of colour, without losing the effortless wearability that makes a great jumper a wardrobe favourite.

JUMPER 1234 SIZE GUIDE AND FIT

Jumper 1234's sizing is one of the first things customers tend to ask us about — and once you know the system, it is actually wonderfully straightforward! The brand uses numbers rather than traditional UK clothing sizes, with the name Jumper 1234 itself inspired by this playful approach to sizing.

For womenswear cashmere, Jumper 1234 currently maps its sizes as follows: size 1 is approximately a UK 6/8, size 2 is a UK 10, size 3 is a UK 12, and a size 4 is a UK 14/16.

The brand describes its neater shapes as true to size, so we generally recommend choosing the corresponding Jumper 1234 number for your usual UK size. However, it is important to remember that the fit can change significantly between styles. Boyfriend, athletic and oversized shapes are intentionally more relaxed, while a classic crew or neater shape will sit closer to the body.

This is why we always recommend checking the individual product information before ordering. If you are between sizes or simply unsure which Jumper 1234 number is right for you, please don't hesitate to call Jane Young on 01636 703511. Our team will be very happy to help, or you are always welcome to visit us in store and try the collection for yourself.

CARING FOR YOUR JUMPER 1234 CASHMERE

CARING FOR YOUR JUMPER 1234 CASHMERE

A beautiful cashmere jumper deserves a little care, but looking after yours needn't be complicated. With the right approach, your Jumper 1234 knitwear can remain a favourite for years rather than something you only bring out occasionally.

Always begin by checking the care instructions on your individual garment. For Jumper 1234 cashmere, gentle washing is key. Where hand washing is advised, use cool or lukewarm water and a suitable non-bio or cashmere detergent. Avoid vigorous rubbing, twisting or wringing, as excessive agitation can put unnecessary stress on the delicate fibres.

After washing, gently remove excess water and reshape the jumper while damp. Lay it flat on a clean towel and allow it to dry naturally, away from direct heat and strong sunlight. Hanging wet cashmere can cause it to stretch, so flat drying is the safest option for maintaining its shape.

You may notice small pills developing with wear, particularly in areas where your jumper experiences friction. Don't worry — pilling is a natural characteristic of cashmere rather than a sign that your garment is faulty. A good-quality cashmere comb can be used gently to remove them without damaging the knit.

Finally, store cashmere folded rather than hanging, ideally somewhere cool and dry.

It may sound like a little more effort than throwing a jumper in the washing machine, but we think it is worth it. When you have invested in beautiful cashmere, caring for it properly helps you enjoy that investment for many seasons to come. If you're unsure about caring for your Jumper 1234 knitwear, give Jane Young a call on 01636 703511 and we'll be happy to help.

HOW TO STYLE JUMPER 1234

We think of Jumper 1234 as the perfect off-duty designer addition to your wardrobe: luxurious enough to feel special, but effortless enough for everyday dressing. The brand's wonderful use of colour and pattern means that even the simplest outfit can instantly feel more considered.

A striped cashmere crew is an easy place to start. Pair yours with your favourite denim for relaxed weekend dressing, or introduce a pair of tailored trousers when you want something a little smarter. With a louder design, let the knitwear take centre stage and keep the rest of your outfit beautifully simple.

Cardigans are one of the most versatile pieces in the collection, too. Wear one buttoned as a top or leave it open over a blouse or T-shirt as an effortless third layer. Lightweight and short-sleeve cashmere pieces can also work surprisingly well beyond the colder months, making Jumper 1234 a year-round investment rather than simply an autumn purchase.

At Jane Young, we love pairing Jumper 1234 with considered accessories and complementary designer pieces. Try it with Frame denim, Gant trousers or shirts, a Gavazzeni belt or a Coccinelle bag. And if you're exploring cashmere further, Brodie Cashmere and Estheme Cashmere offer wonderfully different takes on this timeless fabric.

HOW TO STYLE JUMPER 1234

When does Jane Young receive new Jumper 1234 collections?

Our Jumper 1234 collection changes throughout the season, with new colours, patterns and knitwear arriving as the brand releases new collections. If you're looking for a particular style or colour, please contact our team on 01636 703511 and we'll be happy to check current availability.

Is Jumper 1234 cashmere sustainable?

Jumper 1234 takes a considered approach to sourcing its cashmere. The brand works with Mongolian herdsmen and collects cashmere naturally during the goats' spring moulting process. The fibre is then carefully refined, with the finest fibres selected for its knitwear. The brand also places importance on animal welfare and more responsible production practices.

What are the most popular types of Jumper 1234 knitwear?

At Jane Young, the appeal of Jumper 1234 is its wonderfully versatile collection of cashmere jumpers, cardigans, stripes and more playful statement knitwear. Classic crews and cardigans are particularly easy wardrobe foundations, while colourful stripes, intarsia and embroidered designs offer something with a little more personality.

What size am I in Jumper 1234?

Jumper 1234 uses numbered sizes rather than traditional UK sizing. Size 1 corresponds approximately to UK 6/8, size 2 to UK 10, size 3 to UK 12, size 4 to UK 14/16 and size 5 to UK 16/18. Our current collection is primarily available in sizes 1–4. If you're unsure, call Jane Young on 01636 703511 for personal advice.

Is Jumper 1234 true to size?

Generally, yes. Jumper 1234 describes its neater shapes as true to size, but the fit varies between styles. Boyfriend, athletic and oversized shapes are deliberately more relaxed, so always check the individual product description before choosing your size.

How do I wash a Jumper 1234 cashmere jumper?

Always follow the care label on your individual garment. Jumper 1234 recommends gentle care for its cashmere, including cool washing, suitable non-bio detergent and flat drying. Avoid wringing, excessive rubbing, tumble drying and direct heat. If you're unsure about your particular piece, contact Jane Young on 01636 703511 before washing.

Why does cashmere pill, and what should I do about it?

Pilling is a normal characteristic of natural fibres and can occur where cashmere experiences friction during wear. It isn't necessarily a sign of poor quality. If your jumper develops pills, use a cashmere comb gently to remove them, taking care not to pull at the fibres.

Who founded Jumper 1234?

Jumper 1234 was founded in 2014 by long-term friends Jane and Denise, who share a background in fashion and a genuine love of knitwear and cashmere. Their friendship and sense of humour are reflected in the brand's playful approach to colour, design and its distinctive numbered sizing.
